The workshop will be delivered in two instructor-led sessions, with students having access to all presented code so they can follow along interactively. The first session will introduce the core features of shiny apps, including the concept of creating reactive elements. The second session will demonstrate how to incorporate interactive tables and figures into apps and cover methods of deploying Shiny apps. At the end of the workshop, participants are expected to have gained the skills and knowledge to build basic shiny apps. Instructors will provide links to additional online resources for further learning.
All participants will attend both sessions of the workshop. The workshop will include challenges to encourage participant interactions and problem-solving. Participants are expected to have some prior experience with R/R Studio. Teaching materials will be distributed to participants at least three days before the workshop. All participants will be encouraged to set up any required software before the start of the workshop to ensure the workshop runs smoothly. The workshop will not be recorded.
The workshop aims to deliver fundamental knowledge on how to build a shiny app in R. The target audience is students, and early career researchers who are working in relevant fields are welcome to participate.
